1. 1Open Settings and go to General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard.
2. 2Choose Thype from the list of third-party keyboards.
3. 3In any app, hold the 🌐 globe key on the keyboard and pick Thype.

Thype does not replace your other keyboards. The globe key still switches between all of them, in the order iOS lists them.

Type a word the way it sounds, in Roman letters, and press space. Thype shows the Thai readings it thinks you meant, best guess first. Tap a different one whenever the first is not what you wanted, and press return to commit the sentence.

You do not have to get earlier words right before moving on. Thype reads the whole sentence, so a word you type now can correct a word you typed three words ago - and nothing is final until you commit.

Spelling is forgiving on purpose. jai and chai, gai and kai, phuket and puket all find the same words, and a typo will usually still match.

Tap ไทย to switch to the standard Thai (Kedmanee) layout and type Thai directly; tap EN to come back.

iOS asks whether to grant Thype Full Access. It is optional, and the keyboard works fully without it.

Granting it does one thing: it lets the keyboard and the Thype app share the same personal dictionary and the same learned history. Leave it off and the keyboard keeps its own separate copy, so words you add in the app will not reach the keyboard.

It is not used to send anything anywhere. Thype has no networking code at all - see the privacy policy.

Open the Thype app and go to My Dictionary to add any spelling you like - names, slang, brands - so Thype types them your way. Swipe a word left to delete it.

Thype also learns from the candidates you pick. You can clear that learned history from the same screen at any time.

The keyboard does not appear in the globe list. Check it was added under Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards. A newly installed keyboard sometimes needs the app you are typing in to be closed and reopened.

A word converts to the wrong Thai. Tap the right candidate rather than deleting - Thype remembers the choice and ranks it higher next time. If the word is missing altogether, add it in My Dictionary, and tell me so it can go into the built-in dictionary.

Something else, or a word Thype gets consistently wrong. Email nawathome@gmail.com with the word you typed and what you expected. Thai romanization has no single right answer, and reports like that are what improve it.

Thype for iPhone needs iOS 16 or later. The Mac app needs macOS 13 or later and asks for Accessibility permission during setup - that permission is what lets it read what you type and insert Thai into other apps, which is how it works everywhere rather than in a window of its own.
